I felt exhausted after watching level 2 Oh man I could've watched another hour of it. It's disappointing that movies like this don't come out every year. level 2 One of these days there's going to be a documentary about the making of this film, and we're going to call it 1917 (2019) (2030) level 2 Same! It was a stressful movie! level 2 The night scene in the village when they are walking towards eachother gave me so much anxiety level 2 I got stoned with some buddies for this one. I had to go to the bathroom just to breath sometimes. level 2 i watched it in the middle of the day so empty theater. was quite an experience. level 2 When Schofield got to sit and take a breather, so did everyone in the theater level 2 Yeah I realized about 2/3 of the way through that there would be no brakes on the train that is that movie and I was all in level 2 I’m sorry, but I’m really into period pieces like this and war related things of the early 20th century. That’s such a cool detail and well worth a rewatch now. level 2 The church burning scene and the ensuing chase through the town was so creepy level 2 The fucking rat scene where he dips his hand in the person's fucking chest. level 2 The whole night portion was otherworldly. It was superbly done. Hell, the whole movie was. level 2 The moment they wake up in the field and start walking through the trenches was so damn smooth and satisfying. The “one take” shots were incredible.

This is precisely why I get so annoyed when I hear people argue that theaters are a relic of the past, and it’s fine if they never reopen. I don’t care how nice your TV is. Nothing in your house is going to compare to seeing a scene like this in IMAX. No dialogue, just a swelling score. Shadows leaning from side to side, the screen creeping into darkness and exploding into light. The hair on your arms stands up, and you think “I’ve never seen anything like this before, ” as the camera floats out the window and descends to the ground, as you’re witnessing both beauty and terror as gunshots ring out. You’re not getting that at home.
